Accelerate your business.

Working with data can be busywork or an opportunity to put your organization ahead of the competition. We make sure it’s the latter.

Get your team to lead the way.

We know how to use data to accelerate your business, allowing your organization to focus on what matters, determine which activities are worth investment, and realize value from data science. More importantly, we know how to teach your teams to do the same.

We have helped product managers, operations leads, service managers, buyers, customer experience strategists, pricing experts and other frontline professionals confidently use data to evaluate, prioritize, and decide how to move their respective work forward.

Focus on what matters.

Organizations these days don’t suffer from a dearth of data, metrics or dashboards. Indeed, most organizations have a good handle on tracking if they are doing things right. But what about using data to figure out if you are doing the right things?

We teach your teams to do just that. We teach how to use data to assess a strategy or activity’s potential impact on desired outcomes. And we teach how to set attainable, yet ambitious goals rooted in data, so that goals actually motivate people to act.

What we did…

We guided a large service organization’s support teams through how to value projects and initiatives. Once they could express the value of service call satisfaction in contribution profit dollars, they were able to right size various projects and match efforts with improvement potential. Getting their arms around the measurement problem helped them reallocate resources.

Are you ready?

Are you certain you are spending your resources on the most beneficial activities and projects? Do your dashboards tell you how your initiatives are progressing? What if you could re-allocate 10% of your budget from the least productive to the highest impact activities? And, what if instead of a consultant telling you, you could equip your team to do it themselves?

Take smart risks and innovate with purpose.

Few organizations can afford to just keep doing what has worked in the past. But doing something new is risky. You could just try things and hope for the best or you can systematically learn what works. The latter is less scary and faster.

We show teams how to think about and evaluate the risk of doing something different or new, using data. Teams learn to quickly identify what they must learn to make an endeavor less risky or “safe to try” and frame up experiments or analyses that will generate the required insights. Projects move forward week-by-week, with an ever better understanding of how they may succeed.

What we did…

We worked with a client to shape their approach to service innovation. The problem wasn’t a lack of ideas. There were many ideas and projects in flight, but limited resources to spend. We taught innovation leaders how to think about de-risking their projects, identifying and focusing on the most important things to prove. With this approach projects advanced quicker and those leaders made more powerful business cases for investments.

Are you ready?

Is innovation progressing in your organization with tangible results? What if your teams knew enough about experimentation, sampling, assessing probabilities, and cause and effect analysis to work with your business analysts to move innovation projects systematically forward?

Embrace data science to scale.

There are limits to how much complexity we can deal with without aids. Which offer will likely resonate with a given customer, which factors affect sales by how much and which individual search terms form a common theme of interest? How many service calls can we supervise efficiently and without bias? Big data and advanced analytics can help us overcome those limitations, if employed thoughtfully.

We demystify the methods your analysts, data scientists or consultants use, so that your teams with their domain expertise can help identify problems that would make a rich and realistic target for advanced analytics. We teach them how to ensure the data used is representative, not just the data that happens to be available. We work with your teams on how to interpret and use algorithmic predictions and identify factors that could affect their reliability.

What we did…

Take our work with one company deploying sales forecasts to inform procurement, channel and pricing actions. We helped the business teams think through the practical consequences of forecast error, how to value and mitigate the associated risk, how to determine if a forecast should be trusted or not, and what sufficient accuracy would look like for the applications they had in mind. This targeted effort generated substantial financial benefits, while implementing forecasts indiscriminately across the entire product spectrum would have yielded none.

Are you ready?

Do your front-line teams see the opportunities for using big data and advanced analytics? Are they effectively collaborating on projects with their Analytics counterparts, making sure science projects turn into effective improvements and solutions for the business?
